Connecticut Business Day is our day to make the connection with state lawmakers to help them make the right decisions for the state's economy.

The session includes a Labor-Workplace Issue Roundtable which will be of particular interest to HR professionals.  See the details below.

LABOR/WORKPLACE ISSUE ROUNDTABLE
Each year legislators consider proposals that would increase employers' labor and employment costs, add to their administrative burdens and restrict employers' ability to determine set employment policies.

This year the legislature is considering several measures of great concern.  This breakout session will focus o two of the many issues before the General Assembly that are of concern.  First, is the unfunded mandate on private-sector employers to grant a specific amount of paid sick leave for hourly and non-exempt employees.  Second is a measure that would eliminate the secret ballot process for union elections (card check).

This roundtable will update the employer community on what is happening with these measures at the state Capitol.  It will also be an opportunity to educate legislators about the impact of such proposals.  This is the time to let your voice be heard.  It is an opportunity to share with legislators the impact these measures would have on your company and jobs in the state.
