Connecticut’s Recovery Friendly Employer Initiative

The Connecticut Department of Labor is sponsoring a seminar on Feb. 19 that will inform employers about current laws regarding substance abuse in the workplace and their impact on business.

The event will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Labor Department offices, 200 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.

Topics include drug testing and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well as the impact of Connecticut receiving a National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant to aid individuals and employers affected by the opioid crisis.

The Department of Labor and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services are in the process of creating an Employer Friendly Workplace initiative and Toolkit.

Employers, business leaders and legal professionals are encouraged to attend and provide input toward this initiative.
